Everyone wants to be happy, yet lasting happiness often seems difficult to find. We spend much of our lives looking for happiness in our circumstances, achievements, possessions and relationships, only to discover that lasting contentment remains elusive.
In this inspiring 10-week course based on Eight Steps to Happiness by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, we will explore practical methods for developing greater happiness, inner peace and emotional wellbeing. Drawing upon the much-loved Buddhist text Eight Verses of Training the Mind, these timeless teachings show us how small changes in the way we think can lead to profound changes in the way we experience life.
As Geshe Kelsang Gyatso teaches:
“If our mind is peaceful, we shall be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions.”
Throughout the course we will explore how to:
• Develop a more positive and peaceful outlook on life
• Improve our relationships with others
• Reduce feelings of stress, frustration and dissatisfaction
• Build greater compassion, kindness and empathy
• Let go of unhelpful habits of thinking
• Develop more confidence and emotional resilience
• Find greater meaning and purpose in everyday life
• Create the inner conditions for lasting happiness
These practical teachings have helped people from all walks of life discover a deeper sense of wellbeing and fulfilment. Whether you are completely new to meditation or have some previous experience, everyone is welcome.
Each class includes two guided meditations and an inspiring talk.
