Ancient Wisdom for Modern Life

A 5-Week Meditation Course

Week beginning 7th June till week beginning 5th July 2027

More than a thousand years ago, the great Buddhist master Atisha was invited to Tibet to help people find greater peace of mind during a time of uncertainty and difficulty. Before leaving Tibet, he gave a final set of heartfelt instructions that became known as Advice from Atisha’s Heart – practical guidance for living a happier, kinder and more meaningful life.

Although these teachings were given centuries ago, they remain remarkably relevant today. In a world that often encourages us to compare ourselves with others, chase endless distractions and look for fulfilment in all the wrong places, Atisha’s advice offers a refreshing alternative. Through simple but profound insights, we can learn how to develop greater contentment, confidence, humility and compassion, while reducing the habits of mind that create stress, dissatisfaction and conflict.

This inspiring 5-week course is based on Advice from Atisha’s Heart and presents these timeless teachings in a practical and accessible way. Whether you are completely new to meditation or have some previous experience, you will discover methods that can help you bring greater peace, purpose and joy into your daily life.

As Geshe Kelsang Gyatso teaches:

“If we want to be truly happy, we must learn to cherish others.”

Throughout the course we will explore how to:

• Find greater contentment and freedom from the pressure to constantly seek happiness outside ourselves

• Develop confidence without needing to compare ourselves with others

• Cultivate humility, openness and a willingness to learn from life

• Improve relationships through greater kindness, empathy and understanding

• Reduce habits of mind that lead to stress, frustration and disappointment

• Develop a more peaceful, balanced and positive approach to everyday challenges

• Discover practical methods for finding lasting happiness from within

These profound yet practical teachings have helped people for centuries develop happier minds and more meaningful lives. Their wisdom is as relevant today as it was when Atisha first taught them over a thousand years ago.

Each class includes two guided meditations and an inspiring talk. No previous experience is necessary and everyone is welcome.
